2025 Home Design Inspiration
While design trends are meaningful in that they inspire joy within our clients, they are just that—trends that come and go. One of our main goals as a Design / Build firm is to provide inspired, timeless design that feels fresh to our clients yet forever ingrained in the architecture of the space and the history of the surroundings. So, what’s inspiring us in 2025 and beyond? We sat down with our Senior Designer, Tyler Orlansky, to learn his top picks for the new year!

1. Spaces of Serenity
“People seem to be craving warmth and richness without all of the “gilding of the lily.” We anticipate simpler, earthy finishes that are more meaningful in how they are used and experienced. Think textured tiles, monolithic use of stone slabs, and raw wood.”

2. Traditional but Textured
“Like the textured tiles mentioned above, that expression of carving, modeling, and imperfection can produce an inspired quality of depth and comfort. Traditional materials are reassuring, but imbuing them with a unique texture is one way to modernize them. Even traditional finishes like wallpaper, often considered dowdy and antiquated, are coming back in a massive way because of new techniques and limitless patterns.”

3. Historic Hues
“Under-saturated earth tones are fully in at the moment as a modern interpretation of the Victorian palette – just ask Pantone with their color of 2025, Mocha Mousse. There is such a luxury to similar tones, and our clients are taking notice, being unafraid to use dark blues and greens as features throughout their homes.”

4. Shaker Styling
“No matter the architecture, it’s hard to go wrong with a classic shaker-style kitchen. It is the perfect baseline design language to dress down in a modern setting or dress up in a more traditional home. Especially in the greater Newburyport area and on the North Shore of Massachusetts, where the shaker style is quite ubiquitous, it becomes increasingly important to us to stand apart with our high-quality craftsmanship and unique accents.”

5. Mixed Materials Reimagined
“Wood with metal, stone with glass, plaster with tile—the pairings become infinite, and we love to play with combinations that suit our clients’ personalities—which is why no two of our projects will ever look alike. Homogeneous palettes have oversaturated commercial settings, and homeowners are ready to be bold and make spaces their own.”

6. Burnished Brass
“Certain finishes come and go, but burnished brass never left. With the market peaking out on matte black, we’re not surprised to see clients return to a more traditional finish. Especially when done as an unlacquered finish, the metal can begin to tell a story of love and use over time. There’s no more authentic accent to enrich our everyday experiences.”

7. Matte Matters
“It is refreshing to see a repealing of polished, factory-churned finishes and a return to a hand-made quality that reminds us of the artisans who produced them. A matte finish, whether on stone, metal, or tile, can provide a more subtle backdrop for other elements to shine and is often a better tactile experience.”
While it’s always fun to look at what is trending in the industry and search the internet for inspiration, when it comes to your own home, the priority should always be your style. Your home is an investment and not something you can reinvent each year, so take the time to think and research before rushing into any major decisions. When remodeling or redecorating your space, we’ll ensure your design makes you feel comfortable and transforms your house into your unique sanctuary.
