2021 Year in Review
While an unprecedented year, BLB Design \ Build crushed 2020 and gained incredible momentum through 30 active projects, over 7,500 hours of labor, and numerous awards and recognition. Our 2021 goals were much of the same: continue our momentum by obtaining and completing large-scale projects, expand our team, and give back to the community. Read more to learn how we dominated in 2021!

Projects

Of our 24 active projects, we completed 14, including the Littles Farm Whole House + Addition, Joppa Flats Front Porch Addition, and the Second Story Addition. The ability to complete several projects while continuing work on active job sites would not have been possible without our in-field crew. Working through rain and shine and continuing to grind during a pandemic, our highly skilled team of carpenters put in over 10,000 hours of labor and helped us achieve our project goals.
Similar to 2020, we completed more kitchen and bathroom projects than our other categories – with kitchen/baths averaging at 38%. However, unlike last year, our whole house category came in second with an average of 17% of our total projects. To conclude, additions, exteriors, and miscellaneous projects averaged 13%, and commercial projects made up 6% of our combined projects in 2021.

Community + Recognitions
This year, we were granted the opportunity work closely with several local businesses and partake in a variety of community initiatives, donating over 450 hours back to our local community. Working alongside Latady Design, Window Woman of New England, and Modern Heritage, our local businesses volunteered to restore the Amesbury Police Department’s historically significant balcony. Additionally, we rallied the team to participate in the annual Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center Walk to End Domestic Violence, brought a scarecrow version of Bob the Builder to life for the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce’s annual contest, and donated two carpenters for a day to support the Newburyport Education Foundation’s Annual Lighthouse Auction.

Our team also humbly accepted four awards from three organizations this year, including:
-
- Pro New England Gold Award Basement Remodel
- The Chrysalis Award Organization Regional Award Basement Under $100k
- The Chrysalis Award Organization Regional Award Whole House Under $300k
- Northshore Home Magazine Readers’ Choice Best of the Northshore Crafts/Trade: Wine Cellar
The Man Cave Makeover, a miscellaneous project involving a transformation from a standard Victorian-aged basement to a dynamic finished space, won two awards including a Gold Award in the first-ever PRO New England Awards and a Regional Award from the Chrysalis Award Organization. The New England Colonial Refresh, a kitchen and mutli-bath project, was also honored during the Chrysalis Awards, bringing home a Regional Award for the Whole House Under $300k category. Lastly, our Wine Cellar Build project was voted the Best of the Northshore under the Crafts/Trade: Wine Cellar category – a fourth time receiving this award!
