2020 Year in Review
A majority of our projects, 30% of the total, were kitchen and bathroom remodels, which we like to call our “bread and butter.” Coming in second this year were exterior projects, 27% of the total, including decks, garages, and outdoor renovations. Other types included whole house remodels, additions, commercial jobs, and miscellaneous work – including handyman projects, basement renovations, and door replacements.

Our Victorian Remodel, a whole house remodel added as a stop on the 2019 Newburyport Holiday House Tour and Kitchen Tour, took home two awards, including a Regional Chrysalis Award and a Silver Master Design Award. Our Amesbury Family Home project was awarded a Gold Contractor of the Year (CotY) Award, a project consisting of expanding and brightening the homeowners’ living space through a 336 sq. ft. addition. Lastly, our rockstar of an office manager, Melissa, took home a Gold PRISM Award, a superior achievement that reflects the countless hours she has dedicated to BLB and Trades Mill each and every day.
Transitioning from projects and awards to community initiatives, BLB donated over 300 hours back to our local communities. This year, a majority of our community-based time was spent transforming a historic mill building into the soon-to-be Industrial History Center, a new gallery and office space for the Amesbury Carriage Museum. Other community initiatives included creating a scarecrow for the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce’s Scarecrow Contest, delivering food to cars during Amesbury’s Holiday Drive-in, partnering with local businesses to restore the Amesbury Police Department’s balcony. and donating a Carpenter for a Day to the Newburyport Education Foundation’s Annual Lighthouse Auction. We continued to show our support to local organizations and programs, including the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, Our Neighbor’s Table, the Amesbury Public Library, and the Newburyport Chamber of Commerce.
