Shelby Snyder Named Project Manager of the Year
We are extremely excited to announce Shelby Snyder has received the 2023 Gold PRISM Award for Project Manager of the Year by the Builders & Remodelers Association of Greater Boston (BRAGB). Shelby is truly honored and humbly accepts this award.
“Shelby is one of the most hardworking and organized people on our team, and it’s amazing to see her recognized as one of the best in her field. No one deserves this more.”
– Benjamin Becker, Owner
Shelby joined BLB in 2020 as the project and social media manager. Today, she is BLB’s Project Manager and Creative Director. Shelby is a highly organized and dedicated leader who strives to be the very best for our team and clients. She is a fierce advocate for client needs and does whatever she can to make the construction process smooth.
Shelby confidently overcomes the many challenges of being a young supervisory female in a male-dominated field. She uses her softer, more feminine attributes to her advantage, which helps her foster client connections and allows for calm, open, and frequent communication. With client service at the forefront of her PM style, Shelby demonstrates BLB’s “Beyond the Build” core value by always ensuring clients are aware of everything going on and showing she genuinely cares about their investment. She is in constant communication with our clients and prides herself on overcommunicating.

To perfect her craft, in 2019, Shelby went back to school to receive her Master’s Degree in Project Management with a Concentration in Construction. During her studies, she learned how to effectively and properly manage a job site, along with understanding scheduling, construction estimating, resource allocation, and communication. At the end of her Master’s Program, she received the highest final GPA and was awarded the 2021 Distinguished Scholar Award. Also, that year, she took classes for and received her Construction Supervisor’s License. Every year, Shelby attends conferences and courses to continue her education.
While managing our ongoing projects, in April 2022, Shelby launched BLB Design / Build’s rebrand. Shelby took the lead in ensuring every piece of marketing material, from fleet vehicles and crew apparel to the website and client paperwork, aligned with our new branding.

As our only project manager, she is able to successfully manage a high volume of projects at one time. With BLB, Shelby has completed 33 projects ranging from $50,000 to over $1 million. She is currently managing eight projects, ranging from kitchen remodels to whole homes. Our Arrowhead Project, in particular, is a great example to showcase Shelby’s sales statistics. The scope of this four-month project included renovating an outdated kitchen and powder room. The agreed timeline was from 6/28 to 10/14, which she successfully managed to end within the contracted schedule (mobilization was scheduled on 6/28, and substantial completion took place on 10/14). The budget was $111,738.52; however, Shelby and our lead carpenter worked together and brought the project in under 5.3%.
“Shelby was the next most active person in our Project as the Project Manager – she juggled many projects simultaneously, but made us feel like our project was the most important one. Having to coordinate the schedules of many subcontractors is always challenging, and there were ups and downs, but again, things got done, and got done well. We were happy to have Shelby advocating for us, you can tell she is tenacious when it comes to meeting customer needs.”
– Tim + Gina M., Former Clients

In addition to Shelby’s achievement, the Cape Ann Refresh also won the Silver Award for Best Bathroom Remodel (Between $75,000 And $150,000). This project took an eclectic and outdated bathroom and turned it into a modern-day oasis to match our clients’ contemporary cosmopolitan vibe. While most of the floor plan remained the same, we did a significant overhaul to update the space, including adding a double French door entrance, a new custom, white oak floating double vanity with a white Carrara marble countertop, upgraded walk-in shower fixtures, and a contemporary soaking tub. We also removed the outdated tray ceiling to create a modern, level surface and give the room more vertical space, making it feel bigger.

The PRISM Awards recognize the finest projects and outstanding achievements of professionals in the home building industry. Winning a coveted PRISM Award is a sign of excellence in your field and recognition of superior achievement. We are honored to be recognized as some of the best work in Massachusetts, and are ecstatic to have Shelby named as the best in her field. BLB would not be the success it is today without Shelby, and we are all truly grateful to have her as part of the team. On behalf of the entire BLB Design / Build team, we thank everyone for their continued support.
