FIRST FLOOR REMODEL

Our clients came to us looking to revamp the first floor of their Amesbury home. The house had great bones and was in a beautiful location, but the interior wasn’t as functional as it could be and was in an outdated style. To create their dream home, we completely reworked the layout of the first floor, expanding the kitchen and creating dedicated spaces like a new mudroom and private office to align with their family’s needs. The spaces were then thoughtfully designed in a modern style that matched our clients’ vibe and made the home open and welcoming.

FAMILY-FOCUSED

Growing up, our client always loved this house. Years later, when she saw it come on the market, she knew this was the house she wanted to raise her family in. However, after living there for a few years, they realized they needed to make the house their home. They wanted to create spaces that functioned for both the parents and children. We redesigned their home to include a large mudroom with a wall of lockers for storing all their outerwear needs, two living rooms, one for family nights and one for more formal entertaining, and a dedicated home office.

OPTIMIZED FIRST FLOOR

During the design phase, we completely reenvisioned the layout of the first floor. The main level, originally peppered with interior walls dividing each room, was gutted to incorporate a semi-open floor plan and fit the family’s needs. We eliminated the awkward placement of the 3/4 bathroom between the two living rooms and fit the new powder room in an underutilized hallway. This hallway leads into our client’s cozy home office, hidden behind a vintage pocket door. We also moved the side door, their main entry point from the driveway, to align with their new mudroom for a seamless flow

UPGRADED KITCHEN

The original kitchen was cramped and dark and did not fully utilize the available space. By moving the powder room and shifting the opening to the living room spaces, we could use all 298 square feet of the kitchen. Custom cabinetry fits around the kitchen’s exterior wall, with a nearly eight-foot island in the center. On the opposite side of the powder room hallway, we dedicated one wall to the coffee and beverage center and the other to the fridge and pantry cabinets. And rather than cramming their dining room table in the kitchen, we turned the former sunroom into their formal dining space with radiant heat tile floors.
