This project was a complete home renovation with a third-floor dormer addition. We removed a large chimney at the center of the home to make the downstairs more open and join the living and dining spaces together.

Post and beam construction is a building method that incorporates heavy timber over traditional, dimensional lumber. Post and beam applications generally rely on fewer support beams, creating dramatic open spaces. This method also honors the rustic appeal of exposed wood, making interior framing a central feature within the room.

To increase space throughout the house’s third floor, we added one shed dormer at the top of the staircase. The dormer projects from the roof plane and includes three additional windows for added light and value. 

We added unique, custom built-ins around the home to improve storage space. Below the staircase, we designed and built custom drawers to make use of every nook and cranny present in post and beam construction.
