North Reading Family Home
WHOLE HOME + ADDITION
Rather than moving to a new house to increase space, our clients opted for an addition and extensive interior renovation to secure their dream home without leaving the zip code. While the house was only ten years old, the design was basic and builder-grade. We collaborated with Gina Baran Interiors + Design to overhaul the house and create something completely custom. Maintaining the original floorplan of the existing structure, we added roughly 1,800 square feet of extra space spanning a two-story addition, which included a deeper garage, an expanded basement, and a grand family room.

TRANSITIONAL DESIGN
This style aims to create a balanced and harmonious interior that combines the timeless appeal of classic elegance with the clean lines and simplicity of modern aesthetics. In transitional design, the focus often lies on a neutral color palette, creating a calming and sophisticated atmosphere. While the decor is essential, this style lets the furniture and textures do the talking. Furniture with classic shapes, modern finishes, and a mix of textures are standard features in transitional design.
CUSTOMIZED FOR FAMILY FUCTIONALITY
One of our clients’ top priorities was creating a practical and family-friendly living space. Focusing on functionality and considering the needs of the children is paramount throughout the home. They decided against upper cabinets in the kitchen to improve accessibility for children, promoting independence while freeing up much-needed wall space. The space above the garage and the basement were renovated for generations-alike, including a craft room and family entertainment center, respectively.
COMBINED 1,800 SQ. FT. ADDITION
To create our client’s dream home, we added onto the already sprawling 3,900-square-foot structure. The combined 1,800 sq. ft. addition houses the new great room, skylight area of the kitchen, and pantry on the first floor, and another family room and private gym in the basement. Incredible features of the addition include salvaged beams decorating the great room and kitchen ceilings, a floor-to-ceiling fireplace finished in stone veneer, a walk-in pantry/laundry room with custom built-in hampers, and a custom entertainment center for slumber parties and family movies.
