Man Cave Makeover Takes Home the Gold
The Professional Remodeling Organization of New England (PRO New England) awarded BLB Design \ Build, of Amesbury, Massachusetts, the 2021 PRO Award in the category of Residential Basement Remodel for our Man Cave Makeover project.
The homeowners were looking to remodel and modernize their dark, outdated 1891 Victorian basement into the ultimate man cave. Partnering with Vesta Architecture and locally-renowned interior designer, Ivory & Bone, the team was tasked with creating a fun and dynamic space for our clients, the basement included a billiard room with a custom NFL helmet wall, a separate exercise room, bar area, and game room equipped with a projector and pull-down screen. To enhance the design and elevate the space, textured wooden panels sourced from Europe were applied to the ceiling and custom duct wraps fabricated by Carriage Hill Craft Metals were installed to conceal unsightly HVAC venting.
BLB was presented the PRO Award at PRO New England’s Virtual Evening of Excellence event on Wednesday, June 2nd. This year, there were 75 projects submitted for PRO Awards across sixteen categories. A panel of eleven independent reviewers judged the project entries in a blind evaluation. Projects were judged on a 70-point scale with points awarded for how well the project met the client’s needs and enhanced the functionality and aesthetics of the space, innovative uses of materials and methods, the ability to overcome obstacles creatively, the craftsmanship displayed in the work, and the presentation of the project.
