Home Schoolin’

With statewide school closures, parents are looking for activities to keep kids occupied by day, while presenting educational opportunities. With age-appropriate safety measures taken, light carpentry and crafts are a great way to talk about topics such as measurement, addition, division, and geometry.

General Contractor, Ben Becker says, “We try to incorporate building opportunities whenever we can. Whether it’s a pre-fab[ricated] birdhouse from Amazon or raised vegetable beds, the kids are always engaged, and it provides an opportunity to expose them to my craft.” He adds, “Be sure that any tools you are using have a trigger lock to prevent any accidents.”

A couple of things we recommend for carpentry with the little ones: safety goggles and earmuffs.
